Community and School Partnerships was proud to participate in two signature events in observance of Hispanic Heritage Month. On Monday, October 8th, CSP Graduate Assistant Manny Cantu connected with local Bloomington families and organizations for the 10th Annual MCCSC Latino Family Night at Bloomington High School North. This event is a great opportunity for families and Bloomington residents to connect, grow, and learn together. There were many school and community resources, health screenings, cultural information, and college and scholarship information for all. CSP would like to thank everyone involved in putting this event together, as it is a great targeted resource that helps connect Latino families with the community.
On Friday, October 11th, and Saturday, October 12th, members of the CSP Team traveled to Indianapolis for the 2019 Indiana Latino Expo. Manny Cantu (Graduate Assistant), Jim Melichar (Program Associate), and Julia Jennings (Director) joined colleagues in the Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, where they talked to local families about pre-college resources offered by CSP and Indiana University. They also helped the Indiana Commission for Higher Education guide 21st Century Scholars through various checkpoints in their college preparation. Students were able to participate in virtual tours of the different IU campuses, while watching financial aid videos required as part of the 21st Century Scholarship. It was great to interact with local students and families at this amazing event. We always enjoy talking to prospective students about the amazing opportunities available at the different IU campuses. If you are interested in learning more about the programs and resources administered by CSP or would like to schedule a visit to an IU campus, please contact us for more information.
CSP hopes everyone had a great National Hispanic Heritage Month!
